Accessorising Your Bathroom
So you’ve got your shiny new bathroom and it looks amazing but you’re missing the finishing touches, what you really need help with is accessorising your bathroom. Lucky for you that’s what this weeks blog is all about.
Your new bathroom looks great and you want to accessorise it but you don’t want it to look too cluttered. Think through what look you are trying to achieve. Pinterest is a great source of inspiration and is always my first port of call when I’m trying to find my ‘vibe’. Your bathroom is your sanctuary, it’s where we go to relax and unwind and you want this to be reflected in the decor.
Detailed below are some items that really help to accessorise our bathrooms, bring them to life and add that personal touch.
Carefully Selected Accessories
By this we mean beautifully packaged lotions, potions or perfume. We don’t really want to have our hairspray and deodorant bottles on display. Choose a few tasteful items that are neutral or tie in with your decor and display these. Opt for attractive soap dispensers and toothbrush holders. There are so many to choose from.
New Towels
These can be added to a new bathroom or even give a bit of an update to an old bathroom. We can choose colour to add a bit of life or contrast to the space or go for white/neutral for it’s timeless elegance.
Plants & Flowers
Bathrooms are the perfect place to host plants. Many plants love the humid atmosphere of bathrooms and thrive in these spaces. Try an orchid to add a bit of energy, life and colour. Also, consider artificial flowers, they can offer a a lovely feature plus they’re low maintenance.
Mirror
Mirrors are necessary in any bathroom not only from a practical point of view but they add so much in terms of style. There are so many to choose from, LED mirrors with all their whistles and bells, statement mirrors, rustic mirrors. You will find a mirror to stand out in any bathroom.
Candles & Tealights
Candles and tea lights can be used all over the home to create a warm and relaxing atmosphere. Not only that some of them smell amazing too. Candles and tea lights create great ambience for a long relaxing bath. We can choose colourful candles to make a statement or opt for neutral, timeless colours that compliment the room.
Reed Diffusers
The scent from reed diffusers lasts longer than that from a candle and it’s also much safer than scented candles for obvious reasons. They come in such pretty bottles with a fantastic range of scents. They usually last a few months and if the scent wear off you can shake the bottle up or turn the reeds around to renew the scent. Price wise there are some great budget buys, such as Aldi right up to your exclusive Jo Malone-esque price range. You can’t go wrong, adding style and a stunning scent to your bathroom.
Bath Tidy
Can be a great addition to a bathroom. You can use it to display your lovely soaps, etc. They can look great on modern or traditional baths and come in a wood and chrome. Many modern version have space for a nice glass of wine and a book or tablet. What’s not to love??
Wall Art & Wall Frames
Add some character and personality to your loo with some wall art. It’s still a room, so don’t forget to put something on the walls. You can find some really quirky wall art on sites such as, Etsy and Not on the High Street. Better yet, add some family photos of a favourite holiday or event. Vintage frames and wall art can look lovely in traditional bathrooms too.
Storage
Storage baskets can add a nice touch to a bathroom, you can fill them with wash cloths in your colour scheme or other decorative knick-knacks. If you are going to use open shelving bare in mind that this can look cluttered unless you are very deliberate about what you are going to display.
